The programme of the penultimate competition day of the Russian Short Course Swimming Championship began with the men’s 4x50 freestyle relay.
The St Pteresburg team made of Evgeny Ayzetullov, Alexander Andreev, Vladislav Sery and Arsen Valiev were considered the final’s favourites. But they finished only third, clocking 1:29.37. They were outpaced by the Kranoyarsk Krai team featuring Ivan Rybkin, Alexey Amosov, Nikita Maksimov and Andrey Arbuzov (1:27.65), who came first, and the Moscow team featuring Roman Domachuk, Denis Gladchenko, Artyom Lobuzov and Dmitry Ermakov, who placed second.
Despite the fans' strong support, the Tatarstan team settled for only the sixth place.
In the women’s 100m breaststroke final, the best result was displayed by Natalia Evaneeva of the Volgograd Oblast, who touched the wall at 1:05.56. Alyona Efimova (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug) showed the second-best time, 1:06.55, whereas Daria Chikunova of Saint Petersburg ended up third (1:06.72).
