RSCSC2016: national record and European junior record achieved on closing day

Today, on the closing day of the Russian Short Course Swimming Championship the European junior record was broken in the men’s 100m individual medley. But the record was not achieved by the heat winner. Besides, a new national record was accomplished in the women’s 50m freestyle event.

Moscow’s Rozalia Nasretdinova  won gold in the women’s freestyle final and set a national record. The new record time is 24,06, which is 0,06 seconds faster than her previous record. Maria Kameneva of the Orenburg Oblast came second (24,47), with Natalia Lovtsova finishing third (24,51).

Tatarstan’s Nikita Korolev won gold in the men’s 100m individual medley (52,72). St Petersburg’s Daniil Pakhomov showed the second-best time and beat the national record (53,22); Mikhail Dovgalyuk (Moscow) finished third (53,37).

The women’s 200m breaststroke event was dominated by Maria Astashkina of Penza (2:21.65). Silver went to Sofia Andreeva of Saint Petersburg (2:22.72) whereas another St Petersburg swimmer, Maria Temnikova, took bronze (2:22.88).

World champion Svetlana Chimrova (Moscow) was in a league of her own in the women’s 100m butterfly final (57,01). Anastasia Lyazeva of Saint Petersburg earned silver (57,80); Daria Tsvetkova (Altai Krai) climbed the third place on the podium (58,64).

Kirill Prigoda of Saint Petersburg ended atop the podium in the men’s 50m breaststroke event (26.26). Oleg Kostin (Nizhny Novgorod) touched the wall at 26.47 and took silver. Andrey Nikolaev of the Kaluga Oblast settled for bronze (26.92).

Alexander Kharlanov of Penza took the national title in the men’s 200m butterfly final with 1:51.16. Nikolay Skvortsov (Kaluga Oblast) came second (1:52.11). Bronze was claimed by Alexander Pribytok (Saint Petersburg) who reached his personal best time (1:52.38).
