From 1 to 3 December, 2016, the Swedish city of Gothenburg will host the EuroSkills Gothenburg 2016, a European WorldSkills Competition. For the exchange of experience in the preparation of organisation and staging of the World Competition in 2019, the event will bring in 13 volunteers from Kazan.
Activists from the Kazan Volunteers movement received the right to join the volunteer delegation. The selection criteria included volunteer experience, such as at world-class events and WorldSkills activities held in Kazan in 2014-2016, English language proficiency, and vocational education in a profession.
As part of the general training, management staff for preparations for WorldSkills Kazan 2019 told young people about the WorldSkills world movement, Kazan's bidding campaign, and preparations for the competition, which will be staged in Kazan in 2019, as well as about the EuroSkills 2016 competition and competitive skills, etc.
Internship participants were designated by the competition organisers according to various competitive competences, including Floristry, Hairdressing, Stonemasonry, Mobile robotics, CAD, Landscape design, Welding technologies, and Repair and maintenance of cars, as well as by position of assistants to work with databases and services on site. The task of volunteers participating in the internship is to acquaint themselves with their competences, organisation of activities on site, features of the competitions, and tasks that volunteers perform. All this knowledge will help organisers of the competition in Kazan.
"It was especially valuable for me to become a part of the delegation of volunteers from Kazan on this internship. I have been participating in the competition held in Kazan to WordSkills standards since 2014," said volunteer Denis Pavlov about his impressions. "In the finals of the national competition, I accompanied international experts on various competencies, and now, in Sweden, I will be working at the Mobile robotics site. This competition has a special charm and excitement, unlike sports, but no less exciting. Yet the most important thing is the sense that these events bring. They suggest that everyone is the master of his own making, having a profession at their fingers and a desire to work and develop. This is inspiring! I'm sure this trip will be unforgettable!"
The 45th WorldSkills Competition will be staged in Kazan from 18 to 23 August, 2019. More than 1,500 participants and 3,000 experts from 76 countries around the world will take part in the competition in 50 competences. Competitions will be held at Kazan Expo venue, built specially for these competitions. Events will be attended by 2,000 volunteers from Russia and other countries of the world.
