Republic of Tatarstan delegation visits Euroskills Gothenburg 2016

Today in Gothenburg, Sweden, the EuroSkills Competition 2016 was launched. The competition will be held from 1 to 3 December. The delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan includes representatives of Tatarstan's Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Informatisation, Ministry of Economy and Industry, State Committee for Tourism, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Construction, and Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, as well as heads of secondary specialised colleges of the republic.

The WorldSkills Russia Union, together with the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects represented a joint stand of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 and WorldSkills Russia movement, which will now become a platform for combined work on discussing issues of preparation of the Competition and prospects for increasing the level of vocational skills among Russia's youth. An intensive business and presentation programme is planned in the work of the stand: guests to the platform will be introduced to the WorldSkills Kazan 2019, the WorldSkills Russia Union will present international activities of the organisation, and the JuniorSkills presentation will include performances by young people. In the framework of acquaintance with the host city, a master class on baking a Tatar national dish echpochmak (triangular pies) will be organised.

Volunteers from Tatarstan, who started to work from 27 November, are also engaged in the European competition in order to study experience of the event.

The Russian national team has the largest delegation of participants with 43 representatives in 36 vocational skills. The Republic of Tatarstan is represented in the national team by 5 people in 4 skills.

The EuroSkills Competition is Europe's biggest skills competition and aims to improve the quality, status and attraction of vocational training. The aim of the competition is to increase knowledge and awareness about available career development paths, stimulate interest and improve the status of vocational training. The competition is held every two years with the participation of competitors from EuroSkills member countries. The competition will bring together 500 young professionals under the age of 25 from 27 European countries. The EuroSkills Competition takes place in 38 competencies divided into the following blocks:

Construction and Building Technology

Art and Fashion

Information and Communications Technology

Social and Personal Services
