FINA World Junior Diving Championships wrap up in Kazan

The FINA World Junior Diving Championships concluded at the Aquatics Palace today. Chinese divers topped the overall team standings with 7 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Russian divers placed second with 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. The list of Russian divers who won medals in individual and synchronised events features Nikita Shleikher, Ruslan Ternovoy, Ekaterina Nekrasova, Tatyana Stepanova, Dmitry Belov, Nikita Grigorovich, Nikita Nikolaev and Artyom Bezdenezhnykh.

The British team will take home 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Around 200 junior divers representing 34 countries competed at the tournament in Kazan. Up to 30 international technical officials oversaw the competition. 15 medal events were contested at the tournament.

The first edition of the FINA World Junior Diving Championships was organised in 1977. The tournament is held every two years, bringing together young prospects from the strongest nations in the sport to compete at world level.
