2017 CEV U18 BVEC: Russian players in women's semifinal

The contestants of the women's semi-final of the European Championship are decided.

The Round of 24 was not without surprises The Czech Zolnercikova and Svobodova who were seeded second, and the Germans Schieder and Christ won their matches. So did the Russians Movchan and Andreiuk, who defeated a pair from Cyprus Leonidou/Dasha by a score of 2-0.

The Ukrainians Lysytsia and Dashevska proved to be stronger than the Turkish players Gedikoglu/Gozen in a match ended with a score 2-0. The most intense was the game between the Lithuanians Grosberga/Namike and the Norwegian pair Berntsen/Olimstad. The Lithuanians gained an upper hand in the first set: 13-21, but the Norwegians managed to change the course of the game, winning the second set: 21-19, and the third one: 15-12. The tournament is in full swing!

"The first set was tough, and as we didn't want to play the third set, we played the second one better. We do like the organisation of the tournament. It's a shame we didn't visit the city much. We are on the court all the time," said the Ukrainian players.

"We are very happy to make it to the semi-final. There are only tough teams here. The quarterfinal was pretty tough to us as well, we did our best to win. And we won to go on like that. There is no easy team anymore. All our rivals were very strong, that's why we are so happy about out results. We are ready to the semi-final," said the Holland players.

Voronina/Bocharova (Russia) - Movchan/Andreiuk (Russia): 2-0 (21:17, 21:14)

"We were too much stressed at first, but we pulled ourselves together with the help of the coach. It went better. We adjusted and improved our serves. We encountered this pair in the final game of the Russian Championship and also won it by a score of 2-0. We have the biggest goals for tomorrow," shared their thoughts the Russian pair Voronina/Bocharova.
