The final part of Four Days of the Universiade, the large-scale rehearsals designed to simulate the busiest days of this summer's premier university sports event and to test the Games management system's readiness, have concluded in Kazan on June 22.
Four municipal districts of Tatarstan at once - Sarmanovo, Muslyumovo, Aktanysh and Menzelinsk - welcomed the Universiade Flame on June 22. Thousands of locals lined streets to greet the main symbol of the 2013 Summer Universiade along its entire route through their towns.
The main symbol of the World University Games began its journey across Tatarstan as the first three towns of the republic - Bavly, Urussu and Bugulma - gave a heartfelt welcome to the long-awaited Universiade Flame. A sea of smiling faces and flags greeted the Torchbearers along the entire route.
The large-scale project organised by the republic's Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism and the FISU International Education Centre (FISU IEC), which provided free English language training to employees of the republic's ministries and their subsidiaries, as well as the hotel staff in the city of Kazan reached completion on 20 June.
On June 18, the Flame of the 27th World University Summer Games visited the 30th city on the Torch Relay run, as inhabitants of the Republic of Bashkortostan host city of Ufa greeted the main symbol of the Universiade. The Torch arrived in Ufa after its previous stop in Orenburg. The 38 Torchbearers were the heroes of the Relay, carrying the Flame through the streets of the city.
14 medal events took place on the final day of the track and field competitions.
June 16, the drawing of lots of the 2013 SU artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competition took place in Kazan, Russia. Istvan Karácsony and Josef Robert Zellweger, FISU CT Chairs for Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics, were present to host the drawings.
The Universiade Flame, the main symbol of the World University Games, drew yet closer to Kazan when it arrived in Orenburg on June 16. The Torch Relay in Orenburg was notable for the scale of the event, with 120 Torchbearers carrying the Flame a total of 32,000 meters through the streets and public squares of this college town.
