On March 28, exactly 100 days before the start of the 27th Summer Universiade, a press conference was held in Yakutsk to mark the launch of the third stage of the Universiade Torch Relay on Russian soil. The organisers spoke of the work done, Universiade Torch Relay route and events and activities that await watching crowds during the Flame's journey across the country.

Hundreds gave the 2013 Summer Universiade Torch Relay a massive send off as the city of Khabarovsk bid a warm farewell to the Universiade Flame, one of the major symbols of this summer's premier university sports event, which it had stored for a whole month in Far Eastern State Academy of Physical Culture.

The international table tennis judges seminar, a build-up event held as part of Kazan's preparations for the 27th Summer Universiade, came to an end on 24 March. The first part of the seminar took place at the Boxing and Table Tennis Centre in Kazan, with the second part being staged in the Sabinsky Municipal District of Tatarstan where future judges of the World University Games were given the opportunity to put recently acquired skills and knowledge into practice at the All-Russian Table Tennis Tournament.

Kazan beauty triumphantly came back to Kazan from Bansko, Bulgaria. Margarita Pavlushina won the Miss International Tourism 2013 international competition’s Grand Prix.

A presentation of the exhibition dedicated to the 27th World University Games was held on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Days of Tatarstan at the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg on Tuesday, March 19.

Russian President Vladimir Putin inspected the Aquatics Palace, the football stadium under construction, Gymnastics Centre and Kazan Tennis Academy during his working visit today to the host city of the 27th Summer Universiade. The Head of State was accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister and Games Organising Committee Chairman Igor Shuvalov, and Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

What has been done in Kazan in the run-up to the Summer Universiade makes a favourable impression, a large amount of work has been completed and the city is turning into a true sports capital of Russia, stated President Vladimir Putin during the session of the Council under the Russian Federation President for Development of Physical Culture and Sport which took place at the Main International Centre in the Universiade Village.

Russia's Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko goes through an accreditation process for the this summer's World University Games. On March 19 he visited the Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre which was launched the day earlier. According to the Minister, the centre offers comfortable services to representatives of all client groups.
