Museums have this year prepared a varied and extensive programme. Russia in February marks what would have been the 140th anniversary of Fedor Shaliapin, whose creative legacy has become a significant part of the world musical culture. Fedor Shaliapin is known to have been born in Kazan and raised in the “Kazan environment” and according to local theatrical traditions.

Students in Khabarovsk will for a short while be keepers of the flame of the coming Kazan Universiade, the region’s government has said.

The flame will then travel to Yakutsk and to federal educational institutions in Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. On 6 May, 2013, the brand train and torch relay motorcade will begin moving across Siberia, south and east, as well as Central Russia and Volga Region larger cities.

A meeting dedicated to organization of works at objects of the ancient town of Bolgar in 2013 was held at the Kazan Kremlin. The meeting was held by Tatarstan’s State Counselor, Chairman of the Board of guardians of the Republican Foundation for historical and cultural monuments Mintimer Shaimiev.

State Counselor of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Board of guardians of the Republican Foundation for historical and cultural monuments Mintimer Shaimiev held a meeting on organization of works on the island town of Sviyazhsk in 2013.

President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, on Saturday visited an exhibition and presentation of Republican Youth Forum 2012’s best projects, and attended the award ceremony. Invitees at the event, held in the IT college, were winners of federal competitions, winners of the Tatarstan’s special state scholarship, officials from Tatarstan State Council, President of Tatarstan Office, and others.

Τhe 17th EMITT Exhibition will be held between the 24th and the 27th of January, 2013, supported by the Turkish Republic’s Culture and Tourism Department, in partnership with TUROFED (Turkey Hoteliers Federation), TYD (Tourism Investment Association), sponsored by the THY Corporation and organized by the EKIN- ITE Group.

The Universiade Flame which had been delivered in Vladivostok by plane on Thursday, January 24, was transferred for storage to Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The solemn event was attended by Deputy Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Igor Sivov and Rector of FEFU Sergey Ivanets.

The seminar for people responsible for rendering services to judges for sports included in the 2013 Summer Universiade programme was held in Kazan on January 24. The event is also attended by sports managers. The seminar is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate.

On January 24, the Flame of the 27th Summer Universiade Kazan 2013 will land in Vladivostok. A representative of the bark Sedov, the four-masted tall ship which carried the Universiade Torch around the world, will take the Flame to Knevichi Airport. And on Friday, January 25, the Russian stage of the most ambitious Universiade Torch Relay in the history of university sports will kick off from the far eastern shore of Russia.

The 27th World University Summer Games get closer as the Universiade Flame arrives in Vladivostok on January 25 aboard the legendary four-masted bark Sedov. From here on the Russian stage of the Universiade Torch Relay begins.
