The Kazan 2013 Observer Programme, the pilot project of the 2013 Summer Universiade, kicked off today, on July, 3rd, in Kazan. The goal of the project is to transfer the knowledge and experience of organising and staging the 27th World Summer Games 2013 in Kazan. More than 170 persons have became the participants of the project: the organising committees of the future Universiades and other multi-sports events.

The first orientation meeting with the participants and organisers of the project was held in the Main International  Centre (MIC) of the Universiade Village. The organisers – Deputy Director General Galina Kupriyanova, Head of the Knowledge Management Department Liliya Barieva and representatives of FISU Marc Vandenplas and Jing Zhao – told in detail about the project, upcoming events and rules, and, of course, gave advice of the efficient participation in the programme.

According to Marc Vandenplas, FISU Director of the Summer Universiades: "Staging of the Kazan 2013 Observer Programme is mainly possible thanks to the smooth interaction of FISU and the FISU IEC of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate. Experience is a key factor in the successful transfer of knowledge. Thanks to the Kazan 2013 Organising Committee that it is willing to share this experience with us."

Galina Kupriyanova thanked FISU for the possibility to hold such a project. "The Observer programme is not only the process of the experience and knowledge transfer to the organising committees of the future Universiades and multi-sports events, but also a great opportunity to establish business and professional contacts," said Liliya Barieva.
