A two-day workshop for directors for sports included in the 27th World Universiade programme has today opened at the premises of the Tatarstan Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism. Attendees at the opening were first deputy minister, Azat Sharapov, deputy minister, Khalil Shaikhutdinov, and others.

Tatarstan Judo Federation Centre will be set up on the grounds of the Olympic reserve sports school Batyr, federation’s president, Fayaz Shabayev, said at a report and election conferenceб held today at the premises of the Tatarstan Youth, Sport and Tourism Ministry.
Test event is scheduled to be held in Kazan any time soon. The Ak Bars Wrestling Palace, one of landmark venues for the Games, is set to host the 2012 University Sambo World Cup on November 30-December 3.

The McHappy Day event is annually held on 20 November in McDonalds restaurants, to benefit children who need help. President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, has officially launched the McHappy Day charity event in Kazan. Attendees were McDonalds Russia and Eastern Europe President, Khamzat Khasbulatov, and mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, the presidential service reports.

Rubin Kazan climbed to fourth in the Russian Premier League on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Russian Premier League minnows Alania Vladikavkaz.
Ildar Khalikov has met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Russia Wi Sung Luck in Kazan. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov and the President of Russian Taekwondo Union Anatoly Terekhov.

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has opened indoor swimming pool “Zhemchuzina” (“Pearl”) in the town of Novosheshminsk. Director General of OJSC Tatneft Shafagat Takhautdinov participated in a solemn ceremony. The swimming pool has been constructed for about one year at the expense of the republican budget and OJSC Tatneft funds. The building with total area of 1700 m² is located close to the sports complex “Olymp” and includes 25-meter main pool, children’s pool, sauna, massage parlour, beauty salon, billiard, and a snack bar.
