12 sets of medals will be contested in the men’s and women’s airgun and small arm events during the inaugural edition of the World Deaf Shooting Championships that opened today at the Shooting Centre of the Dynamo Sports Complex in Mirny Township.
Tatarstan’s women’s team has two medals, in weight categories of up to 55 and 60 kilos.
The multipurpose sports ground opened today in the neighborhood Azino-1 in Kazan. Modern-equipped sports facility, built on the territory of secondary school №171 on the Vagapov street, will be available not only for students but also for the more than 5.5 thousand residents of the neighborhood. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, congratulated everyone, who came to the sports holiday, with the long-awaited event and the new school year.
The tournament will be held under the auspices of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) and Russian Committee of Deaf Sports.
On finishing their recreation shift, all the 560 children have come back home.
Since 1949, the athlete won 232 gold, 49 silver and 36 bronze medals.
A supporting event was organized in athlete’s hometown of Bugulma.
