London remains in top position, and has even extended its lead over the second-placed city
Kazan emerged in Sportcal's top 10 for the first time.
A total of 519 cities from 78 nations hosted multi-sport events or world championships in the 12-year period between 2008 and 2019. 
Sportcal, the leading sports market research company, published the annual Cities Index that analyses the success of nations and some cities in attracting major sports events. The capital of the Republic of Tatarstan - Kazan - rose nine places to tenth spot. Russia climbed to second place, with China taking the top position.

As known, the 27th Summer Universiade was held from 6 to 17 July 2013 in Kazan.
At the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, a solemn awards ceremony was held for the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate staff who had made a significant contribution to the preparation and staging of the 27th Summer Universiade.
More than 80 other members of staff of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate were awarded diplomas and letters of thanks of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Rafis Burganov also underlined that the Universiade gave unique priceless experience to each member of Kazan 2013 team, in particular, of the 2013 Games Directorate and to the whole of Tatarstan.
