Divers, the participants of the 16th FINA World Championships, keep arriving in Kazan. Today, at 8 o’clock in the morning the Kazan 1 Railway Station welcomed the Russian diving team. The silver medal winner of London 2012, Evgenii Kuznetsov was among them. Together with his partner Ilia Zakharov, they are about to be the first ones to perform a dive with a 3.9 degree of difficulty (DD).

More and more athletes arrive every day in Kazan for the 16th FINA World Championships, among them one of Russia's most famous open water swimmers, Evgenii Drattcev.

2,651 athletes from 190 countries confirmed their participation in the 2015 FINA World Championships. Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ildar Khalikov, announced this today at the meeting of the Organising Committee for the 16th FINA World Championships 2015 in Kazan and the 16th FINA World Masters Championships.

Participants of the 16th FINA World Championships held their first official training sessions today, July 19. The Mexican national diving team had its morning practice at the Aquatics Palace. Therefore, Mexico became the first nation to test the sports venue ahead of the 2015 FINA Worlds.

The Kazan International Airport continues welcoming athletes coming to Kazan for the 16th FINA World Championships. 95% of participants will arrive in the host city by air. The peak arrival dates are July 21-23 and July 28-30.

Deputy Director General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects, Alexander Karpov, who is responsible for supervising the volunteer programme, being interviewed by the Press Office of Organising Committee for the 16th FINA World Championships explained why elderly people are usually eager to be volunteers on such events and also commented on whether it is easy or not to find Chinese speaking volunteers.

Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin met with Kazan 2015 volunteers at the Athletes’ Village today. He had a friendly chat with the young people who are going to become an embodiment of Kazan's hospitality and openness during the Championships and also gave them some useful tips ahead of their work.

One of the most extensive real-life rehearsals was held today at Kazan 2015 venues to check their operational readiness for the upcoming sporting event. Among those who took part in the drills were Tatarstan’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Vladimir Leonov, Tatarstan’s Minister of Healthcare Adel Vafin, Tatarstan’s Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Utilities Irek Faizullin, representatives of other republican ministries and departments.

With exactly a week to go to the 16th FINA World Championships, journalists start collecting their accreditation badges for this summer's most anticipated sporting event. The Media Accreditation Centre has been opened today at the Kazan Arena Stadium where swimming and synchronised swimming competitions will take place.
