A 176 – strong city volunteer team will work at 11 City Volunteer booths located near the sports venues and at key tourist routes in the city during the FINA World Championships in Kazan. Residents and visitors of Kazan will be able to receive the latest information on the Kazan Aquatics tournament, competition venues, and cultural programme of the Championships from the city volunteers from July, 22 till August, 9.

President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), Dr. Julio C. Maglione, highly commended Kazan’s efforts in preparing and delivering the 2015 FINA World Championships. The FINA President believes that this year’s edition of the Championships will be the best in the history of this sporting event.

The upcoming Championships will definitely witness world records in the swimming pool, President of the Russian Swimming Federation (RSF), Vladimir Salnikov, told to the R-Sport News Agency today. The FINA World Championships will take place in Kazan from July 24-August 9. The swimming tournament will feature 42 exciting medal events.

A press conference took place today at the Tatar-inform Information Agency during which Director General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects, Azat Kadyrov, shed some light on the arrangements made to accommodate spectators’ needs during the 16 FINA World Championships in Kazan.

With 2 days to go to the start of the 16th FINA World Championships, 927 athletes and several hundred visitors have already arrived in the host city. The majority of Championships participants (95%) will arrive in Kazan by air. Volunteers assigned to work at the airport are the first ones to meet and greet them in Kazan. No one but them are responsible for the positive image of our city and any required assistance.

On July 22, 2015 the Bank of Russia announced the launch of commemorative silver coins in denomination of 3 rubles dedicated to the 16th FINA World Championships 2015 in Kazan. A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 rubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39.0 mm), has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference.

Ten mixed-gender duets will perform in the synchronised swimming tournament at the 16th FINA World Championships, FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu told the R-Sport News Agency today. Diving and synchronised swimming mixed duet events will make a debut on the World Championships programme in Kazan.

A multichannel hotline will be in operation 24/7 to deal with enquiries about public transport services during the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. This was announced today by Chairman of the Transport Committee of the Kazan Executive Committee, Aydar Abdulkhakov, during the press conference at the Tatar-inform Information Agency.

There are three days left before the start of the 2015 FINA World Championships. By this time 460 athletes from China, Kazakhstan, Japan, Turkmenistan, Italy, Great Britain, North Korea, the Netherlands, Mexico, Yemen, Russia, Switzerland, Australia, France, Colombia, Hungary and other countries have already arrived in Kazan. 2,651 athletes from 190 countries of the world are going to take part in the 16th FINA World Championships.

In total, athletes from Tatarstan won 11 medals (2 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze) at the Universiade in South Korea.
