On February 16-21, Kazan will become a host for yet another sporting event. The sports capital of Russia is gearing up to host two badminton tournaments at once: European Badminton Men’s and Women’s Team Championships and European Badminton U15 Championships. This year’s tournaments will be played at the Gymnastics Centre, where the 2014 Intersport European Championships were successfully staged.
The Russian water polo team booked a spot in quarterfinals of the 2016 European Championship. In the play-off qualification matches to continue the fight for the awards, the Russian team beat the team of Germany.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on Monday made a working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny, to attend the opening ceremony of a new sports and health facility that includes a swimming pool, owned by the local university of education.
