The FINA World Masters Championships are getting closer as entries for this sporting event become open today, February 17, at the official Kazan 2015 website. As we previously reported, the tournament will be held on August 5-16 and bring together athletes in 14 age groups (from 25 to 100). Up to 6,000 athletes representing 110 countries are expected to take part in the competitions across 5 aquatic disciplines: swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimming, water polo, diving. The tournament will feature a total of 653 medal events.

23,927 candidates from 69 countries applied to volunteer at the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. Online application forms were made available at the official Kazan 2015 website allowing all those interested to apply for volunteering roles at the upcoming sporting event. The application period was September 20, 2014 - January 1, 2015. A volunteer team will be formed by April 2015 and include 2,500 most committed individuals from the Republic of Tatarstan, 20 volunteer programme partner regions and foreign countries.
